Dear Colleague,
On behalf of the Program Committee, we invite you to attend the 3rd
USENIX Workshop on Real, Large Distributed Systems (WORLDS '06), taking
place November 5, 2006, in Seattle, Washington. Registration is now open.
WORLDS '06 will bring together people who are exploring the new
challenges of building widely-distributed networked systems and who lean
toward the "rough consensus and running code" school of systems
building.
The workshop will offer talks followed by general discussion on a number
of fresh ideas concentrated on distributed systems, including scarce
resource management, using virtual machines in grids, PlanetLab's
lessons, automated error diagnosis, supporting single-sign-on
authentication, distributed file systems, geographic host location,
network instrumentation, and DNS security.
This year, WORLDS will again feature a demo session in which researchers
will have the opportunity to demonstrate the real, running distributed
systems they have built. The demo session will take place during the
Welcome Get-Together for OSDI '06, which is co-located with WORLDS '06.
WORLDS is a place to share new ideas, experiences, and work in progress,
with an emphasis on systems that actually run in the wide area and the
specific challenges they present for designers and researchers.
Register online by October 23, 2006.
We look forward to seeing you in Seattle on November 5, 2006.
