Project/Description

Cluster Performance Monitor

Identifying performance bottlenecks and tuning distributed systems requires accurate load and status information for all parts of the system. An ideal monitor should be easy to configure and provide centralized graphical, real-time feedback without interfering with the system it measures. Such a tool must provide timely, accurate information even for systems under extreme load. The Cluster Performance Monitor attempts to meet these goals.

Current Status
We have developed an initial version of the information gatherer and graphical cluster performance monitor. The information gatherer is a kernel module for the FreeBSD operating system, and can be loaded into a live, unmodified FreeBSD system. The monitor is a java application, independent of host operating system.
