Project/Description
Internet Instant Messaging Infrastructure
The development of instant messaging, multi-user chat and presence services is greatly facilitated by the availablity of a robust, datagram-oriented transport protocol. Such a transport would provide reliability, rudimentary multicasting, packet filtering and security encapsulation. The major thrust of my project is to design SUM, a transport protocol with these characteristics. From there, I plan to design Instant Messaging, Chat and Presence protocols that utilize SUM as the network transport.
Current Status
The design of second generation network protocol suite is making good progress. Implementation will begin soon.
