Group Policy Review
Policies Are Not Profiles
- A profile is a collection of user environment settings that the user may change
- Group Policy is a collection of user environment settings, specified by the administrator
Group Policy is more than simple “lockdown”
- Group Policy enhances the “Follow Me!” experience by enabling organizations to:
- Set registry settings securely and without fear of tattooing (Administrative Templates)
- Specify security oriented settings (Security Settings)
- Install software (Software Installation)
- Re-direct “My Documents,” “Desktop,” etc. to the network (Folder redirection)
- Implement tiered scripts (Scripts)
