DHCP & DNS
pm program Greg A. Kulosa, GNAC, Inc. Who should attend: Anyone who wants to automatically distribute network information to networked Windows clients. Attendees should have a basic knowledge of TCP/IP, typical network set-up, and procedures for installing/working with their operating system. We will cover the DHCP & DNS protocols, and how these protocols fit into a typical network. We will cover both UNIX and Windows NT servers for DHCP & DNS; for clients mostly cover Windows versions (UNIX clients are similar). DHCP can be used to distribute IP address, router, DNS, WINS and other information to network clients, without needing to visit each machine and manually configure them. DNS is the Domain Name Service, and is the system by which Internet TCP/IP hosts lookup host addresses and network services. The following issues will be addressed:
Greg A. Kulosa is an experienced UNIX Systems Administrator; he is currently a senior consultant solving a myriad of host and networking problems. He has rolled out DHCP to networks with 2 to 1500 (Windows NT/95, Linux, Solaris 2.6) client machines as well as done more DNS BIND installs than he cares to remember. |
