The Atlanta Linux Showcase announces the upcoming pre-registration deadline of September 15, 1999 for the 3rd Annual Atlanta Linux Showcase. This premier technical and Linux community event will be held October 12 - 16, 1999 at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta, Georgia.
Featuring Linux tutorials presented by the USENIX association and three full days of over 40 technical, advocacy and business conference sessions, the 1999 Atlanta Linux Showcase will be an event computer professionals and Linux end users cannot afford to miss.
Over 70 leading Linux companies including Compaq (NYSE:CPQ), Red Hat Software (Nasdaq:RHAT), SuSE, and VA Linux Systems will be exhibiting on the show floor. VARs, IT professionals, and Linux users alike can find everything they need to make wise decisions for building Linux solutions within their businesses or home.

Linux
Linux is a UNIX-like operating system, an alternative to MacOS and Microsoft
Windows. Created by Linus Torvalds in 1991, its popularity has greatly
increased in the past two years. Estimates state that there are 7 million Linux
systems world wide, making it one of the most popular UNIX like operating
systems on the market. Linux, developed in cooperation with the Free Software
Foundation, is released under the GNU General public license, making it and the

Atlanta Linux Showcase
The Atlanta Linux Showcase is the community's premier technical and community
show organized and run by a group of computer professionals wishing to help
promote Linux. ALS was founded in 1997 and is run entirely by volunteers. Last
years show was the largest Linux event in 1998 drawing its attendees from 23
countries. The Atlanta Linux Showcase, Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation.
Atlanta Linux Enthusiasts
The Atlanta Linux Enthusiasts (ALE) is the Atlanta Linux Users Group. ALE is
dedicated to advocating the use of Linux and providing an educational resource
to the local Linux Community. Meetings are free and open to the public.
