The Necessity for Middleware

The requirements and design process described above began in 1997. At that time, the notion of middleware had not yet surfaced. Instead, middleware was understood by its major components: identification, authentication, and authorization (IAA). What exactly do we mean by identification, authentication and authorization? These terms merit further discussion before delving into the importance and role of middleware.
