OSDI 2000 Activities
Birds-of-a-Feather
Sessions (BoFs)
Monday and Tuesday evenings
Lead or attend a BoF! Meet with your peers! Present new work! Don't miss these
special activities designed to maximize the value of your time at the
conference. The always popular evening Birds-of-a-Feather sessions are very
informal gatherings of persons interested in a particular topic. BoFs may be
scheduled during the conference at the registration desk, or in advance by
contacting the USENIX Conference Department by phone (1.510.528.8649) or by
email (conference@usenix.org). BoFs are open to all attendees. Topics will be
announced at the conference.
Social
Activities
Meet the Symposium speakers and connect with your peers in the community.
There will be a Welcome Reception Sunday evening, a Symposium Luncheon on
Monday, and a Symposium Reception on Tuesday evening.
Work-in-Progress
Reports (WiPs)
Tuesday, October 24, 2000, 4:00 pm5:30 pm
OSDI 2000 will include a session of brief Work-in-Progress presentations of new,
promising work not previously published. A Work-in-Progess talk is an ideal way
of obtaining early feedback on new research ideas from experts in your field of
research. This can be particularly valuable for graduate students early in
their research. People interested in presenting their work at this session
should follow the submission instructions. The Work-in-Progress session is
being organized by Andrew Myers.
Poster
Session
Tuesday, October 24, 2000, 6:00 pm8:00 pm
OSDI 2000 will include an evening poster session. Poster topics will chosen that
appear to be of interest to the attendees and that will generate lively
discussions. A poster is an ideal way to present your ongoing work in a more
structured manner than a Work-in-Progress talk, yet one that makes for easy
interaction and discussion. You might consider providing an overview of some of
your recent work, or describing one aspect in more detail, or using the
opportunity to get feedback on work you are thinking about starting. People
interested in presenting their work at this session should follow the submission
instructions. The poster
session is being organized by Fred Douglis.
