        • If a response results in truncation in the “Answer” section, the “TC” (truncated) bit should be set, resulting in re-trying the query with TCP
      • By default, does not provide referrals

        • Root & TLD nameservers do little else but referrals
      • Truncates responses illegally

        • Does not set the “TC” bit
