SSU: Extending SSH for Secure Root Administration
Christopher Thorpe - Yahoo!, Inc.
Abstract
SSU, "Secure su," is a mechanism that uses SSH [Ylonen] to provide
the security for distributing access to privileged operations. Its
features include both shell or per-command access, a password for each
user that is distinct from the login password and easily changed, and
high portability. By installing SSU, administrators build a solid
infrastructure for using SSH for improving security in other areas,
such as file distribution and revision control.
