New research goals for a New Century: ACME

• Availability

  • 24x7 delivery of service to users

• Changability

  • support rapid deployment of new software, apps, UI

• Maintainability

  • reduce burden on system administrators
  • provide helpful, forgiving SysAdmin environments

• Evolutionary Growth

  • allow easy system expansion over time without sacrificing availability or maintainability

• (Also Security/Privacy, but I don’t know much about it, so I’ll leave out of this talk)
